PSL Transfer News:All comfirmed January signings

The January transfer window is barely a week in, but has been a hive of activity where the Premier Soccer League is concerned.

While the traditional giants of the local game have been relatively quiet, a handful of clubs have already confirmed a few signings.

Port Elizabeth-based outfit Chippa United were one of the quickest off the blocks, making two signings within the first week of January.

The Chilli Boys have roped in former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thokozani Sekotlong, who spent the best part of the last six months without a club after being released by the reigning league champions.

Also new in the Windy City is young winger Thabiso Lebitso, who joined from lower league side, Tshwane University of Technology.

Former league champions Bidvest Wits have also bolstered their frontline – recruiting Cameroonian striker Bienvenu Eva Nga from Mozambican outfit, Costa do Sol.

The Students have also seen the departure of midfielder Granwald Scott, who has since joined Premiership newcomers, Stellenbosch.

The ex-Ajax Cape Town player was not the only gain for the rookies, who have signed teenage midfielder Ally Msengi, while also nabbing the big signature of Zimbabwean international Ovidy Karuru, who recently severed ties with AmaZulu.

Strugglers Baroka have also not been quiet in the January transfer window, recalling striker Ranga Chivariro from his loan spell with first-division outfit TS Sporting, while sending rising star Jemondre Dickens the other way.

AmaZulu, who have had the bulk of their goals scored this season come of the boot of Bongi Ntuli have brought in another striker in Slovakian Milos Lacny.

The 31-year-old journeyman has plied his trade in countries such as Scotland, Serbia and the Czech Republic.

Cape Town City have, on the other hand, snapped up former Baroka captain Mduduzi Mdantsane, who was released by the Limpopo-based oufit in December.

Meanwhile league title hopefuls Supersport United have also signed a defender in Thatayaone Dithlokwe from Botswana’s Township Rollers.

Latest transfer rumours

The big guns have also been linked with a few signings of their own.

In what could be the biggest singing of the current window, Mamelodi Sundowns are rumoured to be eyeing former Kaizer Chiefs star Knowledge Musona.

Also set to be on the move is Amakhosi defender Lorenzo Gordinho, who is in the process of finalising a loan move back to Bloemfontein Celtic. This has been confirmed by the player’s representative, Mike Makaab.

The Soweto giants are also linked with Kenyan international, Anthony Akumu, who recently parted ways with Zambian giants Zesco United.

Meanwhile Chiefs’ biggest rivals, Orlando Pirates could lose star winger Thembinkosi Lorch, who has reportedly been the subject of interest from Belgium’s Club Brugge and Turkish giants Besiktas.

Also rumoured to be on his way out of the Buccaneers is Zambian international Austin Muwowo, who has hardly featured for the club since signing in July 2019.
